Adoption Requirements
1. Because adoption involves a legal contract, adopters must be 18 years
of age or older.
2. Filling out an adoption application does not guarantee that you will be
approved to adopt an animal. Applications are processed on a first-come,
first-serve basis, and the first appropriate match will be
chosen.
3. Although all members of the household are not required to visit with the
chosen animal, we strongly recommend that they come to Tender Care Animal
Hospital during office hours and spend time with the animal to make sure it is
the best match for everyone in the family. Also, all members in the household
must agree to the adoption of a animal.
4. If you do not own your own home, we must verify with your landlord that
you are allowed to bring a companion animal onto the property. Certain
landlords have specifications regarding the type of animal
allowed.
5. We require that you provide us with the names of your
current and previously owned animals and your veterinary care provider. We
require that any animals currently living in your home have current vaccinations
and that both currently and previously owned animals have received regular
health care. We also require that your current pets are either spayed or
neutered. We must verify all of this information with your veterinary clinic.
Regular vaccinations are important for your animal’s health, and some
vaccinations are required by law. Spaying and Neutering are important because
more than 4 million pets are euthanized in U.S. animal shelters each year
simply because they have no home. Many are puppies and kittens less than 6
months old. Help stop this needless loss of life. Spay or neuter your
pet.
