Exam Rooms and Surgery
The Exam Room is where we get a chance to become acquainted with you and your pet. This is where the physical exam and close inspections of your pet take place. It is a good place for you to ask questions about general pet care. Take the time to point out to the doctor any problems you think your dog or cat may be having.
Whether your pet is feeling well or is sick, we will do a complete physical examination on your pet. After the examination, we will make recommendations for your pet. Different wellness topics include discussions on nutrition, parasite control and prevention, microchip procedures, and vaccinations. If your pet is sick, depending on the symptoms, we may recommend further diagnostic testing or will discuss treatment options.
We specialize with the following:
-wellness, nutrition, parasite control and prevention
-microchip implants, vaccinations, sick pet exams and evaluations
Our surgical suite is designed for both patient safety and comfort. Patients recline comfortably on a well-lit table under the safest gas anesthetics available. Our patients all have an IV catheter with fluids during surgery. They are all also monitored extensively by a licensed veterinary technician as well as with equipment like an EKG, Pulse oximeter and doppler blood pressure. We use pre and post-surgical pain medication on all surgeries.
Our specialties include:
-Laser
-Orthopedic
-Soft Tissue
Surgery: (Orthopedic and soft tissue)
We strive to provide you and your pet with a comfortable surgical experience. We perform preanesthetic blood screening to, among other things, ensure your pet’s body can metabolize the anesthetic medications, and clot their blood effectively.
Each pet is monitored by one of our LICENSED VETERINARY TECHNICIANS to ensure their heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen carrying capacity, body temperature and blood pressure is normal. Our surgery patients receive IV (intravenous fluids) to maintain their blood pressure and to provide immediate access to a vein if the need arises.
All of our surgery pets receive pain medication before and after surgery. We also have a BAIR HUGGER patient warming unit that safely and effectively keeps your pet’s body temperature up during and after surgery.
We also offer Laser Surgery. Laser surgery offers another means of pain control and is a great option for surgical procedures. Laser uses an intense beam of light to incise tissues instead of a traditional scalpel blade. When laser is used, blood vessels, lymphatics, and nerve endings are sealed, thereby providing less bleeding, less swelling and less pain postoperatively.
Our common soft tissue surgical procedures include spays, neuters, declaws, tumor removals, bladder stone removals, stomach and intestinal surgeries, GDV (bloat), splenectomies, liver biopsies, ear hematomas, and more.
Orthopedic surgery is also offered and provided by a veterinary surgeon, Dr. Steve Timm. Dr. Timm has over 20 years of surgical experience and performs orthopedic surgeries daily. Some of his most common procedures include ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) stabilization, femoral head ostectomies, fracture repairs, and patella luxation surgeries. He is a wonderful surgeon and always has the pet’s wellbeing in mind. Dr. Timm has also performed other surgeries including heart surgeries, diaphragmatic hernia repairs, cleft palate repairs and more.
